Face Revision

So, I went back into the first yellow face I did.

http://suarezart.blogspot.com/2011/04/face.html

And I wanted to change the colors and finish it up a bit. I think I'm starting to develop more of a sense of what color schemes appeal to me, and I just felt that bright yellow is way to harsh now and blown out.

So after a few hours and way to many color revision layers, this is what I ended up with.

The actual piece has the colors darker and more saturated, I think this version is a bit easier to take in at first.

New Face Progress

I went back into the face and kept working on it. And it seemed the more I put into, the worse it was looking. I just kept adding layer upon layer and change upon change, but just as I was about to give up and do major overhaul, I accidentally turned off a few layers and found an earlier version of the piece.

And I realized I liked this version way more than the one I was working on, I even think I works much better than the one I posted yesterday.

I guess it's hard for me to realize when I'm overworking a piece. But, this version has all the information I was trying to portray, everything after this was unnecessary.

But, who knows, maybe I'll feel different tomorrow.

New Face

Just another face done for practice. I'm really starting to like this color scheme, but I want to keep playing with it and see how far I can push it.

I've also been trying out different effects with the layers and just seeing how much I can throw at a piece before it becomes too much.

Nother Face

Same as before, just some practice. Next one I'll try a different color scheme I think.

Face

Just playing around with brushes and colors and layers.

Powdered Toast Man

As I was looking through some old files I remembered Powdered Toast Man was usually pretty fun to draw when I was in High School or Middle School, I can't really remember. So, I decided to give it a shot again see if it still feels the same, and to practice some rendering in Photoshop.

Even to this day it's still fun.

Something Different

Decided to play around in Photoshop and get comfortable with CS5. I also downloaded something like 200 new brushes, everything from splatters, dirt, watercolor, textures and some crazy effects brushes. So i wanted to play around with those too.

So I just start doodling and throwing colors around, I don't really know what else to say.

Some Leftovers

Found some stuff I never got around to putting up anywear for some reason.

This was for a pen and ink assignment we had to do on an animal. Every one was doing bears and fish and sharks and turtles. And I thought wouldn't it be funny if I did a pokemon.

The teacher just though I came up with some weird sea serpent. I think someone did rat me out in the end though, but the the teacher still didn't know or care what pokemon was. Good times.

This is another pen and ink drawing. This one is exactly like what the media teacher wanted, except I did this for a Graphic Design assignment.

It's half digital, since I cleaned up the lines in illustrator.

This one was the line art of the cover for a comic I made for my comics class.

I don't want to get into the what the story was. But, I pretty much thought up the most ridiculous story I could get away with that would let me draw some awesome stuff.

There were many times the teacher asked if I had lost my mind for wanting to go through with such a stupid idea. I had a vision dammit!
Here's the final cover. I kind of rushed it since i was left with about a weekend to finish up all my pages and the cover. Procrastination is a bitch.

But, I knew well enough to focus most of my work on the cover since i needed at least one thing to stand out. And i didn't feel my pages were that good.

In the end the cover was the main thing that sold my idea to the teacher.
